Year 7 Geography Trip to Purbeck

On Tuesday, May 7th Year 7 pupils went on a Geography field-trip to the Isle of Purbeck on the south coast of Dorset.  A study of the local geology and the nature of the coastline was carried out in sunshine during a walk in the footsteps of dinosaurs along the top of the cliffs at Durlston Head.  Observations of the nature of the sandy bay at Swanage were soon superseded by the prospect of fish and chips by the sea. There was just time to call in at Studland beach on the way home to see the dune succession and to dip a toe into the water to test the temperature - cold. A useful set of notes, some fine photographs and shoes full of sand were the rewards for a day well spent on the south coast.

Thank you Mr Stewart , Mr Hodson, Mrs Bowman and Ms Fisher for 'coastal studies' in action.
