Spreading Peace

On Monday in Assembly, Mr Hawker talked to the school about the history of Jelly Babies. The theme of the week was Spreading Peace and he explained that Jelly Babies were first invented after the First World War to mark the end of the long conflict. The sweets, initially called Peace Babies, were a symbol of hope for the future and were a welcome luxury after years of sacrifice. He went on to explain that each of the Jelly Babies has its own flavour, appearance and even name and similarly, peace is something which should be enjoyed by all peoples of the world, regardless of their background, interests or appearance. Peace begins at home and he urged all to work hard to be a school of Peacemakers.

Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.
