Spring Concert

The Spring Concert was such a delight to behold, both in rehearsal and in the actual concert! The sunlight streamed through the cathedral windows all day, just adding to the already joyful vibe in the building. There is such a buzz on concert days, with pupils and staff working together as a team to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible, and this day was no exception. All our choirs and larger ensembles performed and I think it is true to say that every group did itself proud. Brass Ensemble showed versatility, playing three Renaissance Dances to open the concert and moving effortlessly into a jazzier style later in the evening. Brasshoppers and Concert Band showed just how strong our younger musicians are, with vibrant performances including some great Beyonce moves! All of the choirs sang with beautiful tone, again showing how comfortable SCS children are with a full range of repertoire from sacred to pop, show songs to world music.

Jazbytes rocked the very foundations of the building and Miss Whittock looked and sounded amazing in her Aretha Franklin tribute! Orchestra rounded off the evening with exciting and sensitive performances. So many of the Senior School representatives expressed amazement, with more than a hint of envy, at the sheer number of our pupils involved, and the talent that they display, in this varied and enjoyable evening of music. A huge thank you must go to all the staff who helped, especially Dave Andrews, Fiona Brockhurst and Rich Perry who gave up the whole day to help set up and rehearse, and who lead their ensembles with such inspiration and talent. Also thanks to Alex Palotai for accompanying, and Rosalie Watson for playing with orchestra. Please do have a look at Ash Mills photos
