Piano Duet and Quartet!

What a triumph! The second half of term kicked off with a piano duet (and quartet!) concert given by a dazzling array of teachers from all over the school! Messrs Hawker and Elford kept their cool in their Rondeau by Britten, while Mr Marriott charmed the room with his Rumba, complete with plenty of improvised twiddles! Moskowski featured twice, along with Edelweiss and Climb Every Mountain from The Sound of Music. It was quite a sight when Mrs Brockhurst, Mrs Watson, Miss Chelu and Miss Lamb all jostled and shoved to reach their notes as they squished up next to each other, in a piece for 8 hands at one piano! However, special mention must go to Mr Reynolds for his performance in a duet with Miss Lamb. Having never had a piano lesson in his life, he demonstrated a fine sense of rhythm, a beautiful touch on the piano and just a hint of nerves as he performed to a hugely appreciative audience! WELL DONE EVERYONE! And thank you to all the VMTs and Mr Palatoi the Organ Scholar, for making the concert such an entertaining and joyful occasion. We are VERY lucky to have such a brilliant team of teachers!

In class it has all been about Christmas Carols. The quality of music that the children are composing has to be heard to be believed, and it is going to be very difficult to narrow it down when it comes to choosing for the Carol Service.
