Year 1 and 2 - Mottisfont Abbey

The children in the Year 1 class had the chance to buddy up with the Year 2 children on a recent trip to Mottisfont. It was a happy and productive day and a great introduction to both of the outdoor topics which are being studied this term. Everyone remembered the water safety rules as we walked along the River Test spotting minnows, water plants, flying ducks and hissing swans. The meadows where the perfect place for spreading out in search of more wildlife, which included a grass snake and a frog! After identifying wood circles from various trees, we found some benches in the Spring sun for lunch. All refreshed, we checked out the Font of Mottisfont, which someone quite rightly pointed out didn’t look like the work of William Pye, and then finished off spending all our four pounds wisely in the shop!

The children were wonderful ambassadors for the school and have now produced creative work inspired by this motivational trip. Thank you to Mrs. Reeve and Mrs. de Mendes Harris who drove us safely to and from the park.
