Junior Entrepreneurs compete to create best business

Year 8 pupils are taking part in a business competition designed to teach key business skills via a fun, Apprentice–style, challenge culminating at the school fete next Friday.

Created by the Friends of Salisbury Cathedral School committee and sponsored by Trethowans, this new scheme includes two interactive workshops and plenty of lesson time dedicated to preparing pupils to plan and run a fete stall based on business principles and processes.

The competition began with the first of two workshops with Trethowans Solicitors in which they outlined the challenge and introduced the participants to business principles.

The new initiative, designed to teach key business skills via a fun, Apprentice–style, challenge culminating at the school fete next Friday. Five teams are competing for the coveted title of SCS Junior Entrepreneurs 2017 and a day go-karting at Thruxton. The winning team will also nominate a charity to receive all profits generated by the initiative.

With a small float allocated to each team, pupils will be expected to manage stock, marketing and finance to create the best business on the day. The judging panel, featuring prominent local business people, will take profit, professionalism and teamwork into account.
