Welcome
A very warm welcome from Clive Marriott, Head Master of Salisbury Cathedral School, Wiltshire...
I am delighted that you are visiting our website and, as you browse through these pages encountering beaming children, engaged in a vast array of opportunities, can I encourage you to imagine that you have begun a conversation with us.
It is a conversation with many passionate voices eager to talk to you about the core values that lie at the heart of this iconic School. You will hear from our Academic, Music, Sport and Boarding Heads who will expand on how our children are motivated to discover their own capabilities, harness their natural curiosity and cultivate an enduring love of learning. You will be able to tune in to how the staff here are deeply focussed on nurturing creative, lively minds that in turn enhance the extraordinary sense of community, teamwork, and pride that sings out from all corners of our School.
Parents who visit us often tell me that what strikes them most as they enter our beautiful grounds is a profound, almost tangible atmosphere of happy purpose, cooperation and togetherness amongst our girls and boys. I believe that this is a combination rooted in the very foundations of our historic cathedral setting and its embodiment of Christian values and spiritual awareness. They talk to me also about the hopes they have for their own children which, overwhelmingly, centre on well-being and an inclusive, supportive environment. What a privilege it is for me to listen to those parents and reassure them that in an increasingly unbalanced world their hopes dovetail with everything we stand for and strive for at SCS.
Standards are impressively high here - many pupils receive senior school scholarships, our choristers are world famous, 95% of our boys and girls play a musical instrument and our sports teams have a good share of the laurels. We celebrate such success particularly because we know it comes from a place of happiness and confidence in mind, body and soul. It is also a result of all our children being able to stretch out – literally in our 27 acre haven – and develop their talents at their own pace, learn how much they are valued as individuals and how much they can best contribute to the wonderful community they find themselves in.
So, here you are at the start of a conversation about how we can provide an outstanding education, devoted care and a rich variety of experiences for your child. I hope you will visit us soon so we can continue to talk to you personally and proudly introduce you to our pupils.
