Alumni
The splendid, old and beautiful Bishop’s Palace makes a great focus for much of the life of our school. It is the sort of place that our pupils will remember for the rest of their lives, as do the Alumni, and is all the more interesting because of its age.
Our vision is to re-invigorate the physical presence of SCS to ensure we can continue to provide exceptional education for pupils now and in the future. The old and beautiful Bishops Palace will, of course, remain firmly at the heart of our school but we plan to modernise surrounding classrooms and facilities to meet the needs of a forward thinking independent preparatory school.
Our plans, detailed below, include significant expansion and modernisation of our Science laboratories and Information Technology facilities. We plan to greatly improve the learning spaces provided for Drama, Art and Design & Technology. Sporting facilities will also be enhanced with the provision of new changing rooms as well as a new multi-use Sports and Performance Hall. In addition, a new Pavilion will be built to improve match viewing, and of course match teas, as well as serving to support the continued expansion of our outdoor learning provision for all pupils.

We plan to update our existing changing rooms to cater for a growing school community. The new changing rooms will include better co-educational changing space for both SCS pupils and those from visiting schools, improved Visitor / Disabled toilet facilities as well as staff showers and changing.

Sports Pavilion and outdoor learning space
The new Sports & Outdoor Learning Pavilion will provide an inviting multi-functional space to improve:
- sports provision for both our own staff and pupils and those from visiting schools
- match viewing and match teas (especially on rainy days)
- a foundation for expanding outdoor learning and enrichment
- community events and activities including our Bright Beginnings toddler group

New Classrooms
New Classrooms
Three new classrooms will replace existing old modular classrooms with light, modern spaces. One of the new classrooms will be a dedicated senior maths laboratory which will both improve specialist maths learning for older pupils and free up the existing maths facility for younger pupils to access. This project will also, by virtue of expanding our learning space, create space within the Bishops Palace for extra music rooms and instrument storage.

Specialised Learning Spaces
Specialised Learning Spaces
A major part of our development vision is a complete renovation of the school’s science, technology and art facilities. We plan to double our capacity for specialist science teaching by creating a new laboratory as well as renovating the existing one. The current art and Design & Technology space will be reconfigured to be much lighter with direct access to outdoor space for all classes. The plans include provision of new classrooms with focus on creating a dedicated IT space and a modern home for learning support. The finished project will also provide a new staffroom.

Nursery and Pre-Prep
Nursery and Pre-Prep
We plan to improve the gateway to our school by enhancing the specialist space dedicated to the youngest members of the SCS community. Our vision is to re-organise the space to provide direct access to the garden from all classrooms to support increased outdoor learning and play. The space will also benefit from a full physical renovation including new décor.

Multi-use Sports and Performance Hall
Multi-use Sports and Performance Hall
A keystone of our development ambition is to build an enviable, modern, practical space dedicated to sports and performance. The finished facility will provide a wonderful new environment for whole school assemblies, concerts, plays and indoor sports training and competitions.
