Year 8 Conservation Project

Year 8 Conservation Project

Year 8 led a community conservation project, laying a 10 year old hedge on the Harnham Water Meadows, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). They did a remarkable job, showing fantastic teamwork, physical stamina and skill to successfully lay nearly 50 metres of hedge. King Charles III, who is patron of the National Hedgelaying Society and champion of the traditional craft, believes in the importance of hedgerows as the UK's 'single biggest nature reserve'. He has previously spoken of how laying hedges helps him keep fit whilst doing something for the environment.
