We welcomed six new boy choristers

Last Sunday, we welcomed six new boy choristers to the Cathedral Choir. The boys all participated in the age-old ‘bumping’ ceremony, where their heads were lightly bumped seven times against a specific stone in the South Quire Aisle as the other choristers chant. Three established choristers were also promoted to senior choristers during the same service.

We are looking forward to welcoming two new girl choristers to the Choir during Evensong on the 1 October. They will participate in a ceremony modelled after the ‘bumping’, but theirs will take place in the Trinity Chapel and involve a large prayer book. Four established girl choristers will be promoted to senior choristers as part of this Evensong service.
