Salisbury Cathedral School Art Competition Celebrates Young Talent in Partnership with the Vanner Gallery

Salisbury Cathedral School celebrated the artistic talent of its pupils, on Sunday 15 October 2023, when the winners of its summer art competition were announced by David Christie, Director of the Vanner Gallery.

Seventy creative young artists rose to the challenge of painting mini masterpieces inspired by the unique styles of renowned artists Lucinda Coldrey and Liza Butterworth, both of whom are hosting a charity exhibition at the school this half term, from Monday 16 to Wednesday 18 October 2023. The entries were divided into four categories – pre-prep, prep, upper prep, and former pupils. Winners were chosen in each category as well as an overall winner for the competition. Everyone can see the winning entries at the Vanner Gallery where they will be on display from Tuesday 17 October for a month.

The Salisbury Cathedral School Art Exhibition is a testament to the school's commitment to nurturing creativity and fostering artistic talents in its students. By emulating the styles of Lucinda Coldrey and Liza Butterworth, the young artists were challenged to experiment with new techniques and express their creativity in unique ways.

The exhibition is proudly sponsored by the Vanner Gallery, a renowned supporter of the arts in Salisbury. The gallery’s generous sponsorship not only provided Compleat Artist vouchers for each category winner, but also the priceless opportunity for the winners to see their paintings professionally displayed in a leading gallery.

"We are incredibly proud of the dedication and creativity demonstrated by our young artists," said Mr Hawker, Acting Head Master of Salisbury Cathedral School. "This exhibition not only celebrates the artistic talent of our students but also the school's commitment to nurturing their creative abilities. We are extremely grateful to Vanner Gallery for their support, which really inspired our pupils with the priceless opportunity to see their work on display in a professional gallery."
