Saturday 12 March 2022 Whittling, Wattling, Mud and Magic at Salisbury Cathedral School More than 150 children and their families attended Salisbury Cathedral School’s free community outdoor event behind the lake in the school grounds on Saturday 12 March 2022. Attendees participated in arts and crafts, trialled whittling and wattling, and practised survival and bushcraft skills. Younger visitors made ‘cakes’ in the mud kitchen and wands out of sticks, feathers and wool, and everyone had a turn at cooking over the campfire and creating clay faces to decorate the school’s trees. Do follow the school’s social media to hear about future events.

Monday 21 February 2022 Conservation Corner Gets Fruity Our 15 fruit trees, delivered just last week, are already in the ground in Conservation Corner thanks to the year 8 pupils ably assisted by Mr Marriott himself! Spades flew through the rich topsoil before hitting tough ground littered with flint and chalk. It was hard work to ensure each tree had a hole big enough to establish itself. The activity illuminated the pupils' learning about factors influencing healthy soils and each pair of pupils had to evaluate the suitability of the microclimate of the area chosen, including staking the tree on the opposite side to the prevailing wind.

Wednesday 9 February 2022 Exciting new PocketLab system We have recently invested in the PocketLab system of data loggers and pupils have been amazed at how incredible these little devices are. They can measure almost anything, including motion, altitude, light, magnetic fields, temperature and more and connect wirelessly to the Chromebooks to transmit any data collected. Year 7 have been using them to investigate how the strength of an electromagnet’s field relates to the number of turns of wire in the coil of the electromagnet. We are all looking forward to linking up with Mr Newbery and attaching them to rockets to measure acceleration and altitude.

Friday 10 December 2021 Carol Service 2021 Salisbury Cathedral School's annual Carol Service is certainly a unique occasion. Not only does every child in the Prep school take part, in fact every child is in the choir. Each year the pupils in Year 7 and 8 have the opportunity in their music lessons to write carols and the accompanying melody. The best four are chosen by a panel of judges and sung by the all pupils at the Carol Service. This year, the pupils once again sung, read and performed to an astonishing standard. Congratulations to all the pupils and to Susie Lamb, Director of Music and the VMT's.
