Friday 17 November 2023 Sherborne School Chamber Choir It was wonderful to see 5 ex choristers and pupils singing together once again in the Cathedral for Evensong on Wednesday. Sammy O'B, Archie B, Thomas A-V, Jasper B and Jack M are members of Sherborne School Chamber Choir who were the visiting choir for Evensong; singing in collaboration with the Sherborne Girl's Madrigal Society. Gone are those cherubic faces! But happily, they still sing beautifully, albeit several octaves lower!

Friday 15 September 2023 25th anniversary of Children's Chance It was a real pleasure to welcome into school, Jane and Tony Miller, along with the mayor of Salisbury, Councillor Mr Atiqul Hoque, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the charity Children's Chance, a Salisbury-based charity working to provide opportunities for children in the local area. Jane and Tony launched the charity in 1998 here at the school in the BSR and it was wonderful to hear how it has evolved over the years, and to hear the inspirational stories about the countless children they have supported in that time. Children's Chance is a charity which embodies our school value of Community.

Monday 6 March 2023 Year 6 to Avebury Ring Year 6 had the most amazing day at Avebury. The children explored the henge and stone circle, as well as Silbury hill and West Kennet long barrow. The year group were incredible ambassadors for the school, and asked some brilliant questions to the local archaeologist on site. They loved investigating the artefacts in the museum, and then getting up close to the incredible Sarsen stones in the Avebury stone circle. The children were enthusiastic throughout the day, and completed a field sketch, as well as a treasure hunt using coordinates around the long barrow. A great adventure!

Thursday 12 January 2023 Year 8 Music Scholars give a outstanding performance The Year 8 Music Scholars gave an outstanding concert on their first instruments. The standard of playing was exceptional, as was the camaraderie in evidence. These 12 and 13 year olds were playing well beyond their years. I am so proud of them all, they have worked really hard over the holidays (which, bearing in mind they were all at school until Christmas Day, is particularly impressive) and it has been an absolute pleasure to practise and prepare with them. It was lovely to see a number of current Year 7s in the audience, looking ahead to what they will be doing in a year’s time! We wish the Year 8s all the very best of luck as they visit their senior schools to take their scholarships in the weeks ahead. Miss Lamb, Director of Music.
