Friends of SCS
The Friends is a parent-led body whose role is to support the school by organising social events and fund-raising for ‘extras’ that enhance the children’s experience of school life.
Events are designed enable parents to meet each other and have fun.
The aim is to involve the whole school community, including the staff, in the varied activities, which make an enormous contribution to the special atmosphere of the school.
All parents automatically become Friends when their children join the school. If you would like to take a more active role or have a special skill to offer, then why not join the committee? Committee members meet regularly both in and out of school, sometimes over dinner with the Head.
To become an active member of the Friends, either on the committee or as a helper, you simply have to express an interest and be prepared to help with organising events.
Events
These are run by a group of volunteers (not necessarily committee members) and include both fund-raising initiatives and purely social events.
Highlights of the calendar include:
- Autumn quiz night to welcome new parents
- Christmas Fair in the Cloisters
- St. Osmund’s Day fireworks and barbecue to celebrate the school’s founder
- Summer Fete
- Pimm’s tent at Sports Day
- Summer disco for children

Charitable status
The Friends is a registered charity (no. 309484) and the money it raises goes to the school.
A fee of £15 per term is added to parent bills to cover the up-front cost of running events. Further funds are raised from the fun, social events hosted throughout the year and individual donations.
The Friends also make an annual donation to charity. Currently we support 'Childrens Chance'. This Salisbury based charity aims to give children and young people whose families are going through hard times, or who come from disadvantaged backgrounds, the opportunity to do things that would otherwise be denied them, and which can so often be taken for granted.
Donations to the school
Funds raised allow the Friends to enhance the school environment for the benefit of the children.
In recent years, a diverse range of projects have been supported including:
- Chrome books for all children in Years 6-8
- Pre-Prep play equipment
- Early Years cooking equipment
- New covers for the school swimming pool
- Football goal posts
- Portable floodlights to enable winter clubs to run in the dark
- Branded gazebos for school events at home and away
- New microscopes for science
- Easels for the art department
