Learning support
Many children need individual support at some time in their school career. We identify the special educational needs of our pupils and offer them support. This could be individual support, support within the class or targeted support, for example to hear a pupil read each day. Similarly, the more able pupils, once identified, can expect to work within the class at an appropriate level for their ability. Mrs Phillips has been appointed to target the most able pupils. She runs an invitation maths club and a range of events are planned for them.

The academic needs of pupils will be met in a variety of ways: tasks may be differentiated, support may be offered in class, there may be small group tuition and personal organisation may be monitored. Some pupils may need regular individual, specialist teaching, which is charged as an extra. Parents will be fully involved in drawing up an Individual Education Plan in which pupils targets are agreed and set.
If you have any concerns in this area please arrange to see Mrs Barton who is the Special Needs Co-ordinator.
