Past pupils

All past pupils are encouraged to join the Salisbury Cathedral School Association (SCSA) and details are sent to pupils in their final term. A reunion is held every summer including lunch, activities and Evensong in the Cathedral.

The Salisbury Cathedral School Association aims to keep in touch with the past pupils of Salisbury Cathedral School by keeping a register, encouraging initial and continuous membership and holding an annual reunion.  It also takes an interest in the well-being and future of the school by contributing to the Head Master’s Discretionary Fund, giving two school prizes and supporting school appeals.

The SCSA Secretary keeps the Past Pupils Register up to date with biographies, information on careers and interests. The Register currently contains almost 4000 names. Email

Salisbury Cathedral Old Choristers' Association was the first in the country to hold a reunion. The earliest known Festival dates back to a Friday night in 1818 when the gentlemen who were educated at the school in The Close, had their dinner at the White Hart Inn (now the White Hart Hotel). There is no record of any further reunions until 4 August 1890 when the Reunion Festival, extended to a whole day, was re-introduced and the voices of the former choristers added considerably to the music of the evensong. At that time the Association consisted only of former Salisbury Cathedral choristers and was known as ‘The Cathedral School Old Choristers Association’ or ‘Old Boys’ for short. In 1911 the current title ‘Salisbury Cathedral School Association’ was established, incorporating all past pupils of the Cathedral School.

Please keep the Association Secretary informed of any changes of address, school, careers and interests. Also welcome are articles and photographs for the Archives. If you know anyone who has lost contact, please ask them to contact the School or the Association’s Secretary, Stephen Milner. Email.

The celebration kicked off with afternoon tea, talks, activities for the children and open house tours of the school followed by a celebration of Worship during Evensong in the Cathedral.

The festivities continued into the early evening with a drinks reception at the Bishop’s Palace hosted by the Head Master, Clive Marriott with entertainment by the current pupils in Jazbytes.
