Our school is one of thirty-nine choir schools in Britain and is home to two cathedral choirs which rehearse in preparation for daily cathedral services. It is almost unique in having two parallel choirs for girls and boys which are treated entirely equally in terms of age, financial support and number of services sung. Many of our choristers do not board with us full time, but they are expected to board during busy periods such as Christmas and Easter.

The benefits of being a chorister are many and varied and our choristers lead full and exciting lives. Their weekly routine of practices and services is further enriched by regular concerts, broadcasts, recordings and foreign tours. The choristers play a full part in the academic, sporting and extra curricular activities of the school.

Voice trials for choristers are held annually; in January for boys in Years 2, 3 and 4 and in February for girls in Years 3 and 4 and an early informal audition is encouraged. Choristerships are offered by the Chapter of Salisbury Cathedral and are awarded after the successful completion of a voice trial.
