News from the Sports Department

Another busy week of sport with all the year groups in action. The Year 3s and 4s enjoyed some close fought hockey and football matches against St Francis. Despite being on the wrong end of the score lines, it is clear to see how much the boys and girls have improved. Performances, game understanding and skill development is improving week on week.

The U11A Hockey team enjoyed a good day out at Bryanston for the Hockey IAPS. The team was a mixture of Year 5s and 6s and the girls played really well reaching the 1/4 finals of the cup competition after an unbeaten morning. Unfortunately they lost a tight contest against Blundells which in truth could have gone either way, the girls certainly enjoyed the experience and learnt a number of important lessons throughout the day. The girls teams continue to take the plaudits after a hugely successful block fixture against FSM with all of the teams enjoying wins – I am really pleased with the girls progress thus far.

The senior boy teams had the experience of football matches against Stroud and considering they play only football for the 1st half of term and we have done a week of training, all the teams did superbly. The U10s did particularly well winning 5-2 and 3-0. Overall, another fantastic week of sport and I encourage all the players and teams to keep the standards high until half term to finish what would be a very good 1st half of the term. Well done everyone!
