Feasting like the Vikings

At the end of last week, we held a Viking Feast for Year 4 at which they tried chicken drumsticks, mackerel, wholemeal flat bread, rhubarb, blackberries and that old favourite, Viking sausage (black pudding). It was all washed down with mead (apple juice) and some fabulous Viking jokes and riddles.  Here's a great example from Issy B:

'Why did the God of trickery and fire invite anyone to his party?
Because it was a low key (Loki) party!'

Re-enacting history in this way really brings topics to life and makes learning so enjoyable for our pupils.
