Exploring creatures above and below the waves

How lucky we were to have blazing sunshine as we all headed to Bournemouth's aquarium and beach last week. A very excited group of Year 2 children jumped on the mini buses with buckets and spades and huge smiles.

The Oceanarium did not disappoint, as our guide talked us through the various tanks full of interesting creatures and habitats. He was amazed by the children’s knowledge of the sea creatures and thought they could easily do his job!

Otters, lion fish, giant turtles and an iguana were some of the highlights, but I think the penguins were enjoyed the most, particularly the one which insisted on trying to catch a fly!

From there, we skipped out to the beach where much activity followed—mostly carrying buckets of water to fill many holes and moat creations, plus jumping the waves.

A great day was had by all, witnessed by a few falling asleep on the bus on the journey home.  Kayra summed up the day: ‘The best trip ever!’
