Lower School celebrates books in costume

What a joy to see so many smiling book characters arriving at school in costume. An array of swords, shields, cloaks, hats and sparkling shoes were worn with pride and aplomb and books held high to show the children’s favourite authors and illustrators.

Nursery—Year 3 had an early morning parade in the Stephenson Hall to celebrate the beginning of the day. The children guessed each character and applauded every year group as they walked proudly around to Miss Lamb’s musical accompaniment.

There were broad smiles on the faces of all and a few smudged cheeks, but laughter was all around. The costumes helped during the day when the children completed various related work. We are looking forward to hearing stories, book reviews and admiring art work all as a result of our celebrations for World Book Day.

Thank you to all the parents for helping the children to decide on their character and especially for the long-suffering households who were awoken very early with excited and already dressed children by their bedsides!
