Marvellous machines

What a wonderful start to Monday morning when Mr Phillips arrived on his magnificent tractor!

The visit had been arranged as part of the EYFS topic ‘Farms’ but the whole school were able to have a good look at the tractor on their way into assembly. We were blessed with gorgeous spring sunshine so the children could take their time asking questions, measuring themselves against the wheels and even having a go at ‘driving’. Mr Marriott was an enthusiastic observer too.

Mr Phillips was towing a trailer full of old tyres from his tractors. He has kindly donated them to the EYFS garden and we have great plans for them. We will be using the small tyres as planters during the summer term when we will be doing lots of growing, The larger ones will to help structure small world play activities and be used for climbing and den building.

A huge thank you to Mr Phillips for being so generous with his time and for giving us some ‘new’ resources—and to Mrs Phillips for encouraging his hobby so we can all benefit.

After any visit or visitor we notice a great impact on the work the children produce, and this was no exception; the Nursery and Reception children did some amazing drawing, painting and 3d model making!
