Joy at St Thomas's Church

Our favourite start to December in the Pre-Prep is making decorations for our tree in St. Thomas’s Church. This year we took the theme of the carol, Little Donkey. We made donkeys, twinkling stars and very elaborate bells! The tree was kindly delivered by Mr. Marchant Mr. Moores and Mr.Tapner and the decorations skilfully placed by the Pre-Prep team.

The Reception children and the rest of the Pre-Prep, including Year 3 again this year arrived at the Church to see the trees and entertain family, friends and the general public to an outstanding programme of Christmas singing. Some of the Nursery children joined us to celebrate as a little audience at the front and other Nursery children attended with their parents. The Owls and Badgers played their recorders under the wonderful guidance of Miss Lamb and the congregation marvelled and smiled at their ‘Jingle Bells’ piece, which required playing without a conductor, stopping together at rests and stopping to sing some parts of the song in the middle of playing! There were very few adults watching, or indeed children of a similar age, who could accomplish that! Fantastic everyone!

The children then enjoyed some refreshments kindly provided by the staff at St. Thomas’s church. This is an event firmly fixed in our calendar and a great way to start the excitement of December.
