Holland Sports Tour 2018

What a wonderful experience for the 1st Hockey and 1st Rugby squads. Our first ever Sports tour abroad and hopefully the first of many. Ten pin bowling, glow in the dark crazy golf, a canal boat cruise of Amsterdam, a trip to Noordwijk beach and an adrenaline fuelled experience at the impressive Duinrell theme and water park were just some of the key highlights of the trip.

The sport facilities in Holland were outstanding and proved a great insight into top level sport for all of our children. The girls were able to enjoy the experience of playing on water based astroturfs while the boys enjoyed playing on a wonderful 3G surface at Bassets RFC. Both teams also played an evening game under floodlights which was also a first for many of them. The most pleasing thing was to see the boys and girls perform so well and really rise to the occasion of playing abroad and stepping up a gear. The challenge now will be to build upon this after half term

Results: Match 1: 1st Hockey beat HC Capelle 7-0 and 1st Rugby beat Sparta RFC 22-3

Match 2: 1st Hockey beat HC Noordwijk 9-0 and 1st Rugby beat Bassets RFC 52-0

All of the pupils were a credit to the school and they behaved superbly for the duration of the tour. There were some standouts though and award winners can be seen below:

A truly memorable trip and I look forward to reminiscing about the tour with all the children when we return after half term. Have a good break!
