An afternoon of sport and song

On Wednesday we welcomed choristers from eight foundations in the Western Region of the Choir Schools Association together with a choir from St Peter’s Collegiate Church, Wolverhampton for a sports afternoon. We could not have hoped for a more perfect day and everyone seemed to have a great deal of fun playing and singing together.

The choristers took part in two tournaments—football and netball—in glorious sunshine, with SCS happily retaining both trophies. The participants then enjoyed tea outside following the presentation of the trophies. The tournaments ran very smoothly thanks to the whole games department and it was very good to see such good-natured competition from every team.

At the end of the day the choristers sang a combined Evensong. It was a great occasion with the sound of 150 choristers filling the cathedral with their voices and raising the Spire just a little bit higher.
