Early Years Foundation Stage

The early years of education is not called ‘The Foundation Stage’ by accident; it is during these two very important years that we have the privilege of helping your child to start their journey in the world of education.

We build on the learning they have already achieved prior to their arrival in Nursery school, and through a breadth of exciting experiences, help them to develop the skills and attitudes that will enable them to make an easy and successful transition into full time school life.

Our Nursery and Reception children become members of “Hedgehogs and Squirrels” while they are with us - sometimes they work as a class unit, at other times the two year groups work separately. Despite being very young, we feel it is important for the children to feel they are part of the community, so wherever appropriate we attend as many whole school events as possible. These include assemblies, Cathedral services, charity events and concerts.

Nursery Sessions

Children may join the Nursery class in the half term in which they turn three. Nursery children may attend the sessions of their choice as long as there are spaces.

Sessions run: 8:30am - 11:50am or 8:30am – 12:30pm (to include lunch) and 2pm - 3:30pm.
