Year 4 visit the Isle of Wight
Having worked hard for their end of year assessments, Year 4 decided to have a day at the beach. After a picturesque drive through the forest down to Lymington, we all boarded the ferry by foot. It was a beautiful day and the views from the top deck of the ferry were clear up the Solent and out towards the Needles. We were met in Yarmouth by resident islander Mr Matthews (Mrs Matthews husband!) who brought Jambo the dog for a play on the beach with the children. It was a short walk across the swing bridge over the River Yar and around to the little beach opposite the harbour. The sea was calm and with the beach all to ourselves the children soon stuck into burying each other in the sand, building forts and splashing about in the water. Having had a picnic and more play, we headed back into the pretty town of Yarmouth for some essential postcards, sticks of rock and mementoes of the day, before returning home again by ferry and minibus. We can't wait to go back! ... Is your garden big enough for us to camp in Mrs Matthews?
