Year 4 Evacuate to Wilton House
With name tags attached to coats and gas mask boxes at the ready, Year 4 were evacuated to Wilton House. The children experienced a full day of what it might have been like to arrive from London into the countryside during the 1940's. They were greeted by the charismatic Mrs Ros Liddington, who (in role) got the children to appreciate how differently children and adults interacted and spoke to each other 70 years ago. The strictness was certainly a shock to many of them. The need to 'Make do and Mend' was a further theme they explored as well as the role that Wilton House took during the war.
