Successful Georgia in the CSA Composer of the Year Competition
Georgia D (Y6) has been declared runner up in the National Choir Schools Association Composer of the Year Competition 2011 for her carol Shine out on us that she wrote last year when she was in Year 5.
The Adjudicator Alison Cox – Head of Composition at The Purcell School for Young Musicians wrote:
Well done, Georgia! A lovely carol, complete with piano accompaniment.
The melody is very carefully fitted to the words, nicely shaped and very pleasant to sing. I like the effect of the two voices singing together in the chorus.
This carol is a very good effort indeed for somebody in Year 5, and I’m really impressed.
Every year we perform carols written by children throughout the school in our Carol Service and this is the first time that we have entered any of these compositions in this competition.
