The Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools reviews our inspection report

I begin this bulletin on a very positive note, with the news that the Membership Committee of the Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools, to which we belong, met recently in order to give consideration to the ISI report which followed the inspection of the school last October. The Chief Executive, David Hanson has recently written to me as follows:

‘The IAPS Membership Committee met recently and was very pleased to read the report on the inspection carried out on your school, as well as your own very helpful and informative response to the recommendations. Consequently, the Committee is now very happy to close the file, subject to ISI and the DCSF being satisfied with the school’s response to any regulatory matters. The Committee has asked me to pass on its congratulations and best wishes. One of the purposes of inspection by ISI is to confirm that a school is of a standard to justify accreditation under arrangements approved by the DCSF and Ofsted. A successful inspection therefore entitles your school to continue to describe itself as an accredited IAPS school.’

This is welcome news and I am grateful to my colleagues whose hard work has led to this successful result.

The inspection process for independent schools has changed again in order to take account of the increasing number of regulations in schools. As an inspector myself and in the interests of Salisbury Cathedral School, it is essential that I keep abreast of developments and to these ends I will be a member of the ISI inspection team inspecting a school in London from Monday to Thursday of next week. Mrs Matthews will deputise for me in my absence.

Congratulations to Michelle Sheldon, Gilbert Watson and the Pre-Prep Staff for their excellent organisation of Sports Day. The weather was kind and it was wonderful to see so many parents supporting their children and enjoying family picnics in the school grounds. Very well done to all our children who took part. The House winner was Arundells. A special well done to all its members!
