The school and the Cathedral collaborate on a joint project called Singing Together. The Director of Music, Ian Wicks together with other members of the school’s instrumental team, visits primary schools each term to promote singing. The work includes the choristers working with the schools and the training of teachers. It culminates each term in a concert in the cathedral with the Cathedral Choristers. To date, approximately 3,000 children in Wiltshire primary schools have benefited from this project. This Chorister Outreach Project is part of the “National Sing Up!” campaign and has been funded by the government via the Choir Schools Association.
The Director of Music also runs the Salisbury Cathedral Junior Choir. This non-auditioned choir rehearses on Saturday mornings from 11am until 12 noon and has already taken part in many high profile concerts and services.
