Friends of the School
The Friends are the community of school parents. They support the school by running social events for parents, children and staff with the aim of providing opportunities for parents to get to know each other, have fun and raise money for "extras" for the school.
They make an enormous contribution to the special atmosphere of the school and to the enjoyment and experience of the pupils.
Events
These are run by a committee of volunteers and include fund raising and non-fund raising events. Highlights of the calendar include:
- St. Osmund’s Day Fireworks and Barbecue to celebrate our Founder
- Christmas Fair
- Spring & Summer discos
- the Summer Fete
Organisation
The Friends is a charity and all money raised goes to the school. A fee of £30 is added to parents’ bills each Lent term to cover the up-front cost of running events.
Donations to the School
Funds raised allow the Friends to enhance the school environment for the benefit of the children. In recent years Friends have supported a wide and diverse range of projects including:
- the deposit for a new minibus
- part funding of this new web-site
- bicycles for boarders
- new play equipment for the school playground
- creation of a berm for the lake
- creation of a new Pre-Prep play surface and area
- staging
- a herb garden
Bruce Dunton is the current Chair of the Friends Committee. Bruce and other members of the committee are always delighted to hear from potential volunteers and those interested in joining the committee. Please communicate with the committee and be part of the fun. It’s worth it!
