Want to become a chorister?
Voice trials (singing auditions for potential choristers) are held in January and February each year. Choral Scholarships (from the Dean & Chapter of Salisbury Cathedral) equivalent to 20% of day fees or 40% of boarding fee available and further assistance may be available in cases of need.
At a voice trial you will be asked to sing a short piece, respond to some aural tests, sight-sing and generally show your enthusiasm for becoming a chorister!
It is useful to have met the Director of Music or his Assistant informally before coming to a voice trial. They will be able to advise you on how best to prepare. You might also like to attend the choir's annual open day "Be A Chorister for a Day" held in November where you will meet the choristers, visit the Cathedral, rehearse with and then sing alongside the choristers at Evensong.
