A day in the life
The boarding day starts at 7.00am when a member of staff gives a friendly call to get up and dressed, ready to head across the Close to school for breakfast which is served in the school dining room at 7.35am. This usually comprises a variety of cereals, a cooked dish, toast and fruit. When breakfast is over, the choristers go to practice and the other boarders either get ready for the school day or may have some music practice to do before registration at 8.30am.

After the school day, boarders have 'little tea' at 4.10pm - a snack to keep them going until supper. Choristers then go to choir and other boarders can join a club or enjoy free time until prep at 5.30pm. Supper is then served at 6.30pm in the school dining room. After supper at 7.00pm, the duty choir then do their prep, and other boarders can either choose to return to the boarding house or participate in an activity led by the gappers and a house tutor. These activities usually involve a fun game in the gym during the winter or a swim in the outdoor pool in the summer.
Once back in the Boarding House at the end of the day, there will be free time to play outside, in the common rooms or on the computers. The bedtime routine is the same for everyone, it just starts earlier for younger ones. Half an hour before lights go out, boarders get ready for showers and then have fifteen minutes of quiet time in dormitories before lights go out, either reading, listen to their own personal music, or sometimes listening to a story. After this period of quiet relaxation, children are usually ready for sleep.
